We have re-branded, re-designed and re-launched AutoTrader.co.za. While the old site has provided outstanding service for the past 12 years, there is always room for improvement. After months of research and planning, the new website reflects a fresh new look and layout with enhanced features as well as a modern rebranding.

As always, change is a process and one which needs patience and transparency. While we believe the new website is a huge improvement, you may find many of the changes unfamiliar and difficult to adjust to at first. As such we have compiled a brief explanation of the key changes made to the new website. We are confident you will find the changes a great improvement and ultimately a step forward, ensuring AutoTrader.co.za remains South Africa’s #1 vehicle search website.

Search

Sort search results by any field (Including HI – LOW)

In the past you were only able to change the sort order of the search results by the price of the vehicles. Now you can also change the order of the vehicles by the following fields:

• Year
• Province
• Price
• Description
• Photo

As a result of this change, the ‘sort by HI – LOW’ is no longer available on the search form. We believe that this is an important improvement as it’s now better integrated into the search results.

Modify your search

At any time you can now modify your search criteria. The advanced search form is always at the top of the search page and will allow you to adjust your search based on your specific requirements.

Number of pictures displayed

Below the image thumbnail you will notice a camera icon with a number to the right of it. This indicates the number of images associated with the vehicle.

Larger more comprehensive search box

In an effort to make your search experience faster, to the point and successful - we have added additional options to the main search box. It has also been made more prominent on key pages throughout AutoTrader.co.za.

More Information

AutoTrader.co.za is a lifestyle brand and all things automotive. As such we retain a wealth of information relating to the buying and selling of vehicles. To better reflect this we have added links to key information relating to your automotive activities. We have also made the news panel more prominent and introduced buttons which link to our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Larger sell panel

Most people intend on doing one of two things when visiting our website – buy or sell a vehicle. To ensure these options are obvious, you will notice the home and channel pages are dominated by the new buy/search and sell panels.

Brand quick links

We have found that most visitors to AutoTrader.co.za are interested in a specific vehicle brand. To make your search experience that much better, we have added a listing of popular vehicle brands to the bottom of each page. Each link will direct you to a pre-defined search of the relevant vehicle brand.

Better banner advert formats and positions

Our previous site had quite a few variations in banner format and position. We have reduced the banner formats to three new standard sizes:

Vehicle detail page

Full page format

In the past the vehicle detail page opened as a small popup. While this had it’s benefits, having multiple popups open often became confusing and cluttered. In addition we were limited in the amount of information we could fit in the popup window. The new format will allow us to improve the information on the page and also ensure a consistent experience when viewing vehicle information on AutoTrader.co.za.

Bigger photos

By moving to the full page format, we are able to display bigger photos. As the appearance of the vehicle is a critical factor in choosing a vehicle for purchase, we are sure this change will have great effect on your search experience.

The carousel allows you to view up to 9 photos of a particular vehicle (Depending on what has been provided by the seller). This is one of our favourite new features and we’re sure you’ll love it too!

Layout intended for more comprehensive information

When buying a vehicle, the more information you have the better. We are in the process of improving the information available on each vehicle. We have started by creating an easy to read listed table of vehicle information. Moving forward you will see new items added to the page intended to inform and assist.

“View more stock from this dealer” option

You can now view all vehicles offered from a dealer. This will be of great benefit should an individual dealer stock vehicles specific to your needs or should the dealer be in an area convenient to you.
